Ms. Janet Silvio, previously Business Development Manager at CareMalta, has been appointed Executive Director of HILA Homes, the newest subsidiary company within the Vassallo Group specializing in the care for persons with disability.
Janet graduated in Accounting and Management after having successfully completed her studies with the Malta Institute of Accountants. She is also a Certified Public Accountant under the Ministry of Finance in Malta.
She has worked in public accountants and audit firms for 5 years before moving on to the service industry in 2001 to focus more towards a managerial career, where she worked for 5 years in Senior Management roles for two companies, both leaders in their market.
In 2007, Janet decided to take a career break to fulfill a long-time dream – travelling around the world. When she returned to Malta after 18 months she decided to make a career change and use her abilities for the improvement of society in general. This led her to take up the position of Facility Manager with Care Malta, where she managed one of the homes for five years. Through her travelling experiences in destitute places like Cambodia, Nepal and India, Ms. Silvio had the opportunity and privilege to deal with persons from all walks of life and to have unconditional positive regard and respect towards everyone.
In June 2014, Janet took up a new role within the company as Business Development Manager, having as her focus the development of services for the disability sector, something which CareMalta had been envisaging for several years. Through this role, Ms. Silvio, with the help and constant support of CareMalta, gave birth to HILA (Home to Independence and Limitless Abilities), a new company within the CareMalta Group with the aim of offering services to the disability sector. HILA currently operates Casa Apap Bologna in Mosta, the first home within the private sector to offer respite services to persons with disabilities and will soon be inaugurating its second home, Casa Santa Monica in Qormi, which will offer Independent Supported Living Services.
Janet strongly believes that empowerment and inclusion are key in making a difference in the disability sector and for each person to lead a more fulfilling life.
